In addition to taking the photographs of Suzhou River, Zheng Xianzhang has been focusing on major constructions in Shanghai for many years. His appeared in many construction sites from the building of Elevated Yanan West Road to the overhaul of Waibaidu Bridge. They record the life in Shikumen which is gradually vanishing with cameras and tell the historical story of Shanghai's urban development with black and white or color photos.
