The 98-year-old Chu Hongsheng studied tailoring in Shanghai at the age of 14. The lace cheongsam made by him for movie star Hu Die became popular in Shanghai in the 1930s. In the 1930s and 1940s, gowns, suits, cheongsams and fashionable dresses added radiance and beauty to each other in Shanghai.
