The beauty of Pingtan lies in Suzhou dialect's cadence, lightness, clearness and softness. Wang Ensheng, a Pingtan fan, still remembers listening to Pingtan by the Red Light Brand semiconductor every night. With China's reform and opening up in 1978, Pingtan ushered in its spring. In 2006, with the approval of the State Council, Suzhou Pingtan was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists.
