As one of the four major fishing grounds in China, Lvsi Fishing Ground in Jiangsu Province stretches from the Yangtze River Estuary in the south to Lianyungang in the north, which boasts a variety of seafood. According to folklore, Lv Dongbin had been there four times, so it is called the Lusi Fishing Ground. Fish season occurs in May, June and September and October when thousands of ships catch fish, forming a magnificent painting. In 1981, Lvsi Port achieved a satisfactory production result of 820,000 piculs of seafood annually. At present, there are five cold storages in the port, with a total capacity of 2,000 tons. With the successful artificial cultivation of porphyra, the production of porphyra can achieve 1,000 mu this year. Praised as "The most delicious seafood in China " by foreign guests, Meretrix meretrix was exported more than 1,000 tons from Lvsi Port.
