In 1982, the final of the China International men's volleyball invitational tournament was held in Shanghai Stadium. China and Brazil competed in the final. Finally, Chinese men's volleyball team won the championship by 3: 1. The competition started on June 25 with 10 teams from 7 countries. At the closing ceremony, Shanghai Mayor Wang Daohan, Director of the Invitational Tournament Organizing Committee and Chairman of the China Volleyball Association presented awards to the athletes.
