The 68-year-old Wang Shoushan, party secretary of the No.1 neighborhood committee of Liu Ying New Village in Zhabei District, was a retired cadre who took part in the revolution in 1943. He not only led the masses to plant nearly 200 saplings in the open space of the village, which changed the look of it but also set up a 24-hour public telephone station, which greatly facilitated the people nearby. He also transformed the basement of the new village to two hotels and employed 16 young people as the staff.
