In 1983, influenced by typhoon, nearly 100 Japanese fishing boats in the East China Sea sailed into Shanghai Port to take shelter from the typhoon. Shanghai Seafarers' Store set up stalls at the docks to supply Japanese fishermen with canned goods and other commodities, which were welcomed by Japanese fishermen.
