Due to the inconvenient traffic on both sides of the Shanghai Huangpu river, the east Yan'an road cross-river Tunnel was built at the bottom of the Huangpu River. The total length of the tunnel is 2261.0 meters. The middle of the tunnel is a circular main tunnel. The two ends of the main tunnel are constructed into rectangular tunnels.
